Thankfully since Tuesday he has been fine over night and the windows have remained un-licked. We are doing as advised and leaving him for 5 minutes at a time every now and again to try to get him used to being alone so far we haven't really seen any improvements, however he did stay upstairs for a minute while I went downstairs yesterday so I think he has taken a little step. We will persevere.
The weather is driving us all bananas, but we have been doing our best to dodge the rain and have been out for walks any way!
