My office is upstairs and it is also the place where the cats spend most of their time, either in the office with me but generally somewhere upstairs snoozing the day away.
The day wen

Our other cat, who is frightened of leaves if they move too quick, seemed to realise that he was ok and walked passed him, albeit very sloooowly and caaaaaarefully to get to me later in the afternoon.
Pooch spent most of the day peering around the door looking at him and practicing his puffer fish impression every time the dog sighed too hard or moved. However later in the day he could resist his snack dish no longer, he likes a snack does our Pooch, and took his chance when we were downstairs to go for a little afternoon tea.
Unfortunately for Pooch we returned before he had finished and the new boy flopped down blocking the door way leaving around 4 inches gap for Pooch to mount his escape. Pooch, valuing his food more than his freedom, once resuming his normal shape from puffer fish to cat, made the decision that now he was here he may as well finish his snack.
That done he sat considering his escape. Pooch carries a bit of ballast should we say so 4 inches doesn't really give him much to play with and after a couple of very tentative attempts at the gap he decided that he just wouldn't get through without touching him. The other route he considered was the jump across the dogs back legs thus making his escape into the bedroom. Both of these escape routes could have resulted in having to make a quick get away and almost certainly in effort.

Pooch not really being one for effort and not really having the physique for quick, decided to give up and have a lie down instead. Spending the next hour or so sleeping about 3ft from the dog.
It's been a good cat day.
